America’s Next Top Model Episode 11

Posted in I AM FASHION with tags , , , , , , , , on May 12, 2011 by iamfashion212

This week the models were given a golden opportunity to try and impress Franca Sozzani, Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Italia. She met with the girls, they were able to show off their books, talk a little about themselves, and ask questions. The challenge was a difficult one. The models had to walk down a flight of stairs balancing a tea tray with lit candles on top of their heads. Wow! The tricks one must perform during this cycle. The photo shoot was held in the largest out door market in Marrakech with designs byLondonbased designer Daniella Issa Helayel. These critiques by Andre’ Leon Talley took me back to last weeks panel.

” You look like you have lost your mind. I’m trying to figure out the narrative. What were you thinking?”Alexandriawas sent home.

” This is so high fashion. I see the clothes and I see the story.” Once again, Molly won best photo.

I say…

You wear the clothes, the clothes shouldn’t wear you! You have to see the message in the clothes.

Lauren Santo Domingo takes the “Trunk Show” Global

Posted in I AM FASHION with tags , , , , , , on February 3, 2011 by iamfashion212

My fondest memories are from my childhood, thinking about Ms. Domingo’s “Trunk Show” takes me back to one of those memories, so I felt inspired to blog about it. ( I’ll do that from time to time) I remember spending time with my mother at trunk shows and how she’d order my custom made shoes by Italian designer, Shoe Be Doo. She’d order a minimum of twelve pair for the school year. I guess you could say, my mother started my shoe fettish. I attended private school and had to wear a uniform, but my mother made certain that I had the most fashionable uniform in school, she pulled that off with accessories; minimal jewelry, hair accessories, monogram sweaters, jackets, and of course my custom made shoes. She would even take me along to the ESCADA trunk shows to order her seasonal selections.

On February 15, 2011, Lauren Santo Domingo fashion consultant and Vogue Contributing Editor will bring this experience right to your finger tips with the Modus Operandi online trunk show. Her goal is to get people excited about fashion and I am excited about checking out this site. I think that being able to view a designers collection after a show from your living room will appeal to all those like myself who haven’t received a formal invitation to sit front row at Lincoln Center yet. I’ve sat under the tents at Bryant Park, and I’m working on creating opportunities for myself to be invited to Lincoln Center. As a stylist, I have to keep my finger on the pulse of fashion, what’s new and exciting, and Ms. Domingo’s site sounds like a hit. Fashion Week will only be one click of the mouse away and you will actually be able to order what you see on the site and receive it in six weeks to six months. I’ll be checking it out. Be sure to mark the date.
